Viscosity Modifiers
OEMs are looking for improved fuel economy performance, robust low temperature capability and longer drain intervals.
The viscosity of a lubricant is influenced by changes in its temperature. An oil's Viscosity Index provides an indication of its potential for application over a wide temperature range. Viscosity Index Improvers (VIIs), also known as Viscosity Modifiers, comprise a class of additives that improve the viscosity-temperature characteristics of the lubricant, making the oil's viscosity more stable as temperature changes.
